GOOD-MEN

By- Kaleem Sibtain ‘Kaleem’

Good-men do not puff by power,
Bend down trees of fruit and flower.
Do not lament for the past,
Look forward struggling fast.

Good-men are the captains of fate,
March they ever never get late.
All the fears they keep away,
No defeat stops their way.

Good-men have the clean mind,
For each in world they are kind.
Destination itself looks for them,
They sail the truth with active helm.

Good-men have the pious soul,
Their path of truth has certain goal.
They do not aspire for the wealth,
But mend the spiritual -health.

Good-men are great indeed,
Courage, honesty, truth, they feed.
Mend their ways and train the souls,
They love the Creator and created whole.

WHAT SHOULD I SEE

By- Kaleem Sibtain  ‘Kaleem’

O Motherland tell me,

What should I see?

Should I see the sparkling- dew

On tossing blue-lotus new

Or falling tears from eyes of poor

Feeble- thin, devoid of cheer.

O Motherland tell me,

What should I see?

Should I see the blooming- daffodils

Or thirsty faded lips.

Should I see the burning- flowers

Or see the spring showers.

O Motherland tell me,

What should I see?

Should I haunt with breezy blows

And play under trees’ shadows

Or should I see the shackled souls

In fire of sad and sorrows.

O Motherland tell me,

What should I see?

Another’s sorrow and grief I can’t see.

Frenzy of beauty is naught to me.

Cries for water and food, I can’t see.

Victims’ shackles torture me.

O Motherland tell me,

What should I see?

Amroha and The Patriotic Uprising 1857

It was a bolt from the blue. Order to use Enfield rifle with the greased Cartridge did hurt deeply the feelings of both Muslims and Hindu soldiers. They refused to fire the bullet. The spark of the unfired bullet caused an explosion that ballooned up in the form of Mutiny 1857. Invariably it failed to change the course of history but added a glorious chapter of sacrifice, valor and love for the motherland.

On the 11 th day of May 1857, sixteenth of Ramadan, rebel soldiers from Meerut landed in Delhi and were joined by Delhi regiments. Soon the walled city of Delhi was on fire. The jubilant deserters  were furiously looking for their white masters and putting them to sword. This evening Delhi was in control of Indians. True, there was loot and plunder all over the Moughal capital. By midnight a 21- gun salute from Royal Moughal Cannon announced the restoration of Moughal Empire. Bhahdur Shah Zafar was declared as the Commander-in Chief of Rebel forces. It was a new dream – a beginning of a new end.

The ripples of rebellion reached the shores of Amroha by 12 th May. There were three British officers posted in Moradabad region namely C.B. Saunders – the magistrate, J.J. Compbell – Joint magistrate and J Cracroft Wilson – the judge. Gursahay Jat was the Nazir in Collector’s office. Mr. Wilson was there in Amroha for 17 years. He was well posted in local affairs.

Please note that this scribe, by no means, is trying to produce a scholarly document that would satisfy the masters of historiography. This narration may or may not conform to the merits of experts. It is a simple narration as I read and heard in my journey to explore my roots. It is a short story of valiant attempts of ordinary Amrohvis who fought against the most powerful state  upon earth of their time.

The ancient Moughal capital was under intense turmoil now. News of rebellion at capital had warmed the blood of simple denizens of Amroha. On 17 th May 1857, the descendants of Dewan Syed Mehmood and Durwesh Ali Khan Saheb called a meeting of important dignitaries of the town inside the Dargah of Syed Sharfuddin Shah Wilayat. Public  gathered patiently outside the wall of dargah to learn the decision made by 30 city fathers. Majority of leaders wanted to stand up against the Raj and capture the reins of local administration. Some participants advised to use discretion, wait and watch. The decision to rebel against the usurpers was taken by majority vote and the meeting called off. On 19 th May mutineers broke the central jail of Moradabad and freed all the prisoners. Syed Gulzar Ali was the proud leader and commander of Amroha-Uprising. He arrived at Amroha with a group of freed prisoners. People gathered at short notice in the courtyard of Syed Ramzan Ali (Mohalla Katra) to chalk out the future strategy. Another meeting followed at the residence of another Ramazan – Sheikh Ramazan Ali (Moh Darbar Kalan). The clarion call was made there. The die was cast. Amroha was now a city of rebellion. Meer Madad Ali  and Shahmat Khan were Thanedar and  Jamadar of police department respectively at that time.

The appeal of Syed Gulzar Ali inspired thousands of young men and an ill equipped army of amateur soldiers attacked the police station and Tehsil of the town. Seventeen thousand rupees were confiscated from the government treasury. Thana and Tehsil were razed and put on fire. Many police officers were gunned down. Their graves are still lying undisturbed opposite the building of Old Thana near Mohalla Kali Pagri. Amroha was now in the hands of mutineers. The town munsif Saad Ullah Khan was rescued by Ali Muzaffar Khan who brought him home with his office.

This uprising is also the story of our weakness, disunity and conflicting motivations. It is also  the story of ordinary mortals caught in an extraordinary situation. It is story of human greed. It is a story of Jaichands and Meer Jafers.

On 25 th May 1857, Wilson arrived with a strong force that ruthlessly crushed the nascent revolt. The leaders of local revolution had to beat the retreat. They went underground.  The houses of Syed Gulzar Ali and other freedom fighters were razed to ground. The dream of freedom ended in smoke.

Government promoted Gursahay Jat as Chief Administrator and Amroha was given in care of a  Rampur Royal Nawab Abdul Ali Khan to soften the bruised contours of proud Amrohvis. Gursahay was rewarded a big Jageer (11 villages) by British masters. He was given the title Raja and there after referred officially as Raja Gursahay.

What followed later was a bloody, vicious and awful suppression. Heaps of dead bodies scattered around the police stations and streets. Homes were broken down and sacked. The ordinary town folk were falling victims of British ire. It took another 90 tediously long years to write the new chapter.

HOPE

(KALEEM SIBTAIN NAQVI)
MUT GHABRA ANDHERON SE ANDHERI RAT KA MALIK,
MOSAFIR HOSLA RAKKH-E TO JOGNOO BHEJ DETA HAI. [……………….]

Have hope, do not loose ambition, there is always the next day created by the Almighty God Who is the savior of the entire universe. Do not be disheartened when the promises that have held you, are wrecked in the skies. Hold tightly the rope of patience for the sake of Day of Judgment when we will see all the records of our deeds. Come forward and fly in the skies with your moral and intellectual strength.

Don’t despair even for a moment when tempests rage and your frail ambition is battered to pieces. Don’t despair if it is dark and the steps are slippery. Remember the light is somewhere around you knocking the threshold of bright future.

Don’t forget that there is the savior of the universe. Don’t forget that even the black magic of devils cannot blow out the candle that burns without fear protected by the Almighty Savior. No doubt the white fringed rollers may obscure the horizon and churn the clouds of foam but the sun is sure to be born and the next day is never far away .

IIT Roorkee needs a wake up call

We can’t forget that our values are the guiding principles in our day to day behaviors as also in critical life situations. Values are a set of principles or standards of behaviour.

IIT ROORKEE is acknowledged as one of the best technological institutions across the globe. The need for a technological institution in the country was initiated by Sir James Thomason in 1847 as Roorkee College. Earlier in 1854, it was christened as Thomason College of Engineering until it was granted a University status by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru vide [Act No. IX of 1948 of the United Province (Uttar Pradesh)].

He presented the Charter in November 1949 elevating it to the first Engineering University. The University of Roorkee was converted to Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R) in 2001. Thus IIT Roorkee carries almost 150 years of history with it. The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is a trend setter in the field of teaching and research of modern sciences and technologies.

However, recently the students of IIT have taken creativity in fashion to sublime heights. As we know creativity is the process of producing something new, innovative and unique and the brilliant students have decided to take the help of ubiquitous LIPSTICK to discover the new frontiers of creative art ala-eroticism. They were competing with each other in the aesthetic art of make-up with the real lips of fair sex and with their explicit and implicit consent.

The argument is – as long as we are comfortable with the act what the elders or society has to do with it. World has gone too fast and the talk of traditions, culture or SANSKRITI is all moonshine. We are the harbingers of modernism and can’t carry on the extra load of anachronistic ideas.

According to Father of Indian Nation M.K. Gandhi “If wealth is lost nothing is lost. If health is lost something is lost. If character is lost everything is lost.”

Undoubtedly, creativity demands freedom and for real and radical creativity we need freedom; freedom to stretch their wings, explore, and experiment with new and innovative ideas. I would love to hear what the VC and Professors of this prestigious institution have to say to say in this experiment. We saw on TV screen the boys with lipstick dangling deftly between their lips and girls pleasantly enjoying the coloring of their lips within breathing distance. These smarties have given the real proud moments for their parents, their society and their country.

This is the knowledge they are gaining there. Finally we have arrived.

There has been a revolutionary change in the field of values in our society due to many factors like influence of modern culture, industrialisation, modernisation, urbanisation, globalisation and multinationals. However, we can’t forget that our values are the guiding principles in our day to day behaviors as also in critical life situations. Values are a set of principles or standards of behavior.

Values are regarded desirable, important and held in high esteem by a particular society in which a person lives. Every action and thought of ours leaves an impression in our mind. These impressions determine our behavior at a given moment and our responses to a given situation. The sum total of all our impressions is what determines our character. Someone had said:

“If there is righteousness in the heart there will be beauty in character. If there is beauty in character there will be harmony in the home. When there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation When there is order in the nation There will be peace in the world.”

The academic and cultural boycott of Israel

For several years, the two countries are coming closer and Israel has become India’s second largest supplier of weaponry.

RSS AND its fellow travelers in Congress have succeeded in selling one idea – India and Israel are both victims of Islamist terrorism; India and Israel are the only two states that are not caving in before the Islamic terror.

After independence, the Nehruvian India had always kept aloof from Israel. India was one of the best friend of Palestine. The geo-politic realities like Arab world support to Pakistan on Kashmir issue and Indo-US relationship also made its impact this policy and changed the rules of game though not entirely turned the tables. For several years, the two countries are coming closer and Israel has become India’s second largest supplier of weaponry. It is said that working with Israel today should be beneficial to India as Israelis are the world leaders in avionics and in security. They have plenty of experience in dealing with Islamic terrorism also. Considerations of the national interest dictate such an alliance. ‘An enemy’s enemy is a friend’ is the underlying logic.

The whole concept is based on deliberate ignorance about the ground realities. Israel has clandestine relationship with most of the Arab countries who have been the greatest supporters of the doctrines of Whabiyat. Its only Hammas that had refused to recognize Israel. It is still keeping alive the idea of return of Palestinian to their homeland.

Islamic terrorism in India is represented by various Al Qaeda-affiliated groups like Lashkar-E-Toiba and Co that are religiously anchored in Wahhabi doctrine, a school so extremist that consider even Shia Muslims as “kafirs.” Israel’s bete noire Hizbollah, is a Shia which has a different tactics. This is the only entity that had defeated Israel in past in the battle fields and till date the best organized socio-religious armed wing of Lebanon supported by Iran. Hizbollah is the name which sends chill down the spine of bellicose of Israeli establishment. The Hizbollah has also played the game differently than Al Qaeda—it had rarely used the suicide bombers in contrast to the profusion of suicide bombers who play the drama of blood and cadavers often unsuccessfully. The lack of professionalism in the Al-Qaida trained bombers are in stark contrast to the Hizbollah’s professionalism in attacking American barracks in Beirut decades ago and forcing Israel out of Lebanon.

India’s foes and Israel’s enemies are not the same. They might be distant cousins at best.

India has long had an extensive trade relationship with the Middle East. Saudi Arabia has the third largest market for Indian exports while India imports significant quantities of oil. Dubai, Bahrain, Oman and rest of the middle eastern states are crowded with highly skilled, skilled, unskilled and illiterate Indians who are sending their hard-earned income back home to bring prosperity for our country. Courting the Israelis will adversely affect the more-than-million-strong Indian expatriate community in the Gulf.

India should also remember Israel’s extreme cynicism in the 1980s when Israel was giving intensive training to the LTTE in guerrilla warfare while training the Sri Lankan army in anti-terrorism operations.

Today, Israel is practicing a new kind of apartheid in occupied territories. Israeli state tramples daily on the academic freedom and cultural life of Palestinian people. Their Universities and colleges are bombed; text books are prohibited in entering Gaza, artistic events are closed down in Jerusalem; the students and teachers are not allowed to reach their universities. Today Israel is hell bent to follow the policies of oppression and expulsion of indigenous population.

It is heartening to note that intellectuals and conscience keepers in India have decided to form an Indian Chapter of the International Movement to campaign for academic and cultural boycott of Israel. The list of these luminaries is long but to mention a few names : Upendra Baxi, Vina Mazumdar, Mohan Rao, Uma Chakravarthy, Gargi Sen, Jayati Ghosh, Rohan D’souza, Githa Hariharan, Mushirul Hasan, Saba Dewan, Zoya Hasan, C.P. Chandrasekhar and Praful Bedawi.

This action is taken in the backdrop of Israel’s attack on aid flotilla from Turkey few weeks back and a new situation which is developing as a new aid flotilla is heading towards Gaza. A Libyan aid ship is staying on course for the besieged Gaza Strip on Sunday despite Israeli warning that it would be intercepted in the sea.

“We are heading for Gaza. We will not change direction.” said Mr. Mashallah Zwei, a representative of Qadhafi Foundation, a Libyan charity.

The siege of Gaza and the one-sided affair, a part of Israeli self defense strategy. Very limited attacks have been launched against Israel from there but the Israeli response has always been deadly. The useless rockets of Hamas have been used as a pretext by Israel to launch its attacks. They are the reason given for imposing the siege. However, the facts on the ground are different. It is brutal suppression and victimization of a besieged human race.

Lack of professional courses at Amroha

This is nice to see a portal up and running which is specifically for Amroha and surroundings.

This is going to be my first post on Amroha Blog.

we have mostly courses related to teaching profession only like B.Ed

Lack of professional courses at Amroha

I still don’t see much options if we talk about professional courses, people have to go to near by places like Delhi/Ghaziabad or Moradabad, where we have some fine institutions.

Other then that we don’t have anything at Amroha; we have mostly courses related to teaching profession only like B.Ed which mostly degree colleges does have that these days like anything and interestingly every body is willing to do also, quite strange  🙂

Even we don’t have any education counseling centers which can guide them to do something related to his/her interest while considering bright future in their domain. Luckily these days we have good amount of internet awareness even in Amroha, I still remember those days where we had not seen even computers so often in the colleges or anywhere around.

And now days we have so many folks around the worlds in most of the domains which is quite good and encouraging Amroha’s youth to do something extraordinary in their fields.

I really look forward to see more people coming in and contribute, discuss and give ideas to make it more interactive.

BE BRAVE,FEARLESS AND WORTHY

S.Kaleem Sibtain Naqvi

“COWARDS DIE MANY TIMES BEFORE THEIR DEATHS;
THE VALIANT NEVER TASTE OF DEATH BUT ONCE.” [William Shakespeare]
The bravery is the boon of true confidence and untired journey on the pathway of righteousness predicted by the Lord of Heavens and the Earth and all in between them .It brings health ,happiness, wealth , prosperity, knowledge, wisdom, freedom, justice and trust for all the individuals and so for the nation .Falsehood is the worst animy of all these qualities because the falsehood is generated by the frustration of our inner Hell due to the lesser connectivity with the Creator of the Universe.
As a matter of fact sometimes we become unable to decide what is right and what is wrong and the confusion creates unwanted stress making us worried , whenever such a situation is created we should become more conscious and more transparent to do our acts.We have to avoide the deeds to perform having the fear of their disclosure among others. We should not do the things that can anyhow make us ashamed. If there is even a little desire to hide our deed, it is certain that it is not worthy of us and we are somehow afraid of the people can know it and it would be the washing of dirty linnon in the publc. It means it is creating fear which will disturb our peace and happiness.
On the other hand , if we think the biological consequences of fear we will find that it is most harmful for the health because fear negatively activate our body organs to secrete poisionous nitrogenous complex organic compounds[harmful enzymes] that adversely affects our Central Nervous Systom that can create any functional disorder in our body and if the body is affected by fear, it becomes difficult to be diagnosed and results in further psychological problems making the life as a burden and simultaniously the society also gets its harmful impact.
The fear makes us coward and spoils our careers making the life worthless. We must be true to become brave and if we are brave we will not tell the lies and will not be afraid of anything that will harm us or our dignity.
”NOR EAR CAN HEAR NOR TONGUE CAN TELL,
THE TORTURES OF THE INWARD HELL.[Lord Byron]

See,if there is a desire to hide our deed, means we are somewhere escaping from our resposibilities or we are doing something unworthy that may be shameful for us . This silent inward hell makes us unhappy and disturbed .We know it very well that we can not keep anything secret out of the God’s vision and when the God , the Creator of the universe knows our deeds then what for we hide from others and if we think it unworthy of us , we should discard it and follow the correct way to avoid the fear of disclosure to get the blessings of Almighty God so that can can enjoy really fearless and happy lieves.
” HIMMAT-E-MARDAN,MADAD-E-KHUDA”

We should not forget our true ambitions to get the real success in our lieves keeping us involved in absurdities of shallow funs and vulgarities of intellectually bankrupt peoples but we have to search and follow the worthy peoples, otherwise, always a blind following the blind will also be fallen in the ditch with him. So, remember ,if our friends are good we will be mutually motivated to do the best worthy of us which will generate lots of positive energy free from all the fears making us physically, mentally and emotionally balanced and healthy, and we will become brave and worthy, so the future would certainly be bright [Inshallah] .
We should also not forget our aim of life with our ambitions to strengthen the humanity. So we have to search and follow the path of truth and sould love our country and the nation to get the true honour in the society.Love is the part and parcel for building a prosperous society and remember- the truth that hurts the feelings of others should not be expressed at all because such a truth is—in the words of WILLIAM BLAKE—‘-‘-‘A truth that is told with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent”.So always follow the path of love and sympathy for the purification of souls and be brave ,fearless and worthy ..
SATYAM BORYAT PRIYAM BORYAT
NA BORYAT SATYAM APRIYAT.
So we should be brave by speaking the dignified truth, be fearless by following the selfless- friitful truth and be worthy by expressing the thuth with heartiest love to give the real meanings to our lieves. If we follow it,
inshallah the God will make the ways for us. Ameen!

THE RELIGION

(S.Kaleem Sibtain Naqvi)

The religion is that divine lights which engulfs all the darkness of minds and hearts if is adopted not superficially but followed by our inner souls with full of its gravity.

English poet Drydon says-

Errors, like straw, upon the surface flow

He that would search for pearls must dive below

Everything and everyone deserves respect because they are the product of Almighty God’s creation that is so infinitely complex that our minds can comprehend and not duplicate, and the religion is the divine code of mission of the creator for the people to decode by accepting and following the commanding authority of the creator which is merely not the methodological performance of the of the formalities to achieve the materialistic merits but in the divine grace of the Creator.

The religion is the state of equilibrium between our mental, physical and social interactions in the form of humanity. it is the connection between us, our inner souls and our creator. wen have no merits but it is his grace that we are in our existence.

There is a lone religion for the entire creation of the universe commanded by he creator whom we call by different synonyms as God, Parmatma, Khuda, Om or Allah. The creator constituted a mission or religion that can create the balance of emotions to search the foremost and ultimate truth, and the truth of life and death which is phenomenologically called as religion. The phenotype of the traits of religion is humanity.

So if our aim of life is one, our religion is also one. No matter if the ways of approaching the same target are different. Different routes for single destination keep away the problems of space to move for huge crowd of people. No matter if some roots are rough and tough and some are smooth, no mater if phonetics of expressing the feelings is different in different groups of people but the matter is the heartiest acception gravity of the connection between the creator and created which is universal religion of all the human beings and is called humanity. A hindi poet Vayom says-

“dharm toh aachran hai, nahin aavrun

Aachran ki kami reh gai hai aamrun

Aachran ki kami dur jo kar sake

is zamane ko woh aadmi chahiye

Hai andhera bahut roshini chahiye”

So infect the humanity is the universal religion given us as the mission of God which connects us with the God, Parmatma or Allah and all the superficial terms as Hinduism, Christianity’s, Mohammad’s, jews or Sikh are the only exponent of the single religion of humanity which has its spiritual ideology to fulfill the aim of life.

Rainbow colours of Google

Google

Google

Google went for a strong retaliation against these hackers by hacking them right back. There are many more moves that might follow in this cyber war between the titans. Let us see how the Google navigates the Animal Farm.

THE RULES of expression of political thoughts and activities on the Internet are pretty simple and very complex at the same time. You are free to dance the way you like America. Play as long and as much as you want in the fabric of the net but don’t brush away national security.

In the Middle East, as in some South American dictatorships and China, the ubiquitous censors monitor every word what you write. In India we are a very sensible and sensitive democracy. We do willy-nilly try to follow the game of golden-mean. Information Technology Act of 2008 gives the following guidelines:

Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has the power to block sites and remove content to maintain “public order,” as well as for national security and to preserve friendly relations with foreign states.

It requires companies to have a point of contact to receive government blocking requests.

A committee of Indian officials with representatives from ministries such as Law and Home Affairs would review blocking requests.

The accused party/company would have 48 hours to present a case.

Company officials who don’t assist the government when blocking is mandated would face a fine and up to seven years in jail.

India’s Penal Code, Section 295A
So far the things are almost running smoothly and there have been no evidence of any major violations from any horizon.

However, the recent confrontation between China and Google does make an interesting story.

A worldwide company DIT was founded in 2001 to provide low-cost, reliable Internet services for people living under repressive regimes. DIT’s DynaWeb is a constantly updated, free proxy network designed to circumvent Internet blocking. On 15 September, a volunteer working with DynaWeb, observed that Google’s Chinese news was giving one result in China and another in the United States. Bill Xia, CEO of Dynamic Internet Technology (DIT) said, “We were able to confirm this report through proxies in China. Search results inside China do not contain news from blocked sites.”

Google tried to water down the issue and made the following response:
“In order to create the best possible news search experience for our users, we sometimes decide not to include some sites, for a variety of reasons. They may display improperly in our service, or be inaccessible to users. We have not included links to a number of sources that are not accessible to mainland China Internet users.”

Xia remained unconvinced. “The Chinese government controls the media and the military and through them, is able to create a ‘Matrix’ that hides web sites that relate to civil rights and opinions the Chinese authorities don’t want people to see. I condemn it and urge the public to demand that Google explains how it’s able to justify the practice.” Xia also said that he has demonstrated that Google is using geographical differentiation to display different results to different locations.

Baidu.com is a largest Chinese search engine and Google also has a minority share in it. Two years ago, Baidu infuriated many Chinese Internet users as China’s censors had installed new filtering software to keep unwanted information out of the country.

Despite the intellectual flexibility and discretion shown by Google it found that the hackers had attacked 33 other companies, including American companies like Adobe and others. The sophistication of attacks strongly suggests that this operation was either launched by the Chinese government’s agencies, or was approved by them at the least. US Government still cannot do much about it, as Google is unable to prove the allegation on the 100 per cent involvement of the Chinese government.

Google went for a strong retaliation against these hackers by hacking them right back. There are many more moves that might follow in this cyber war between the titans. Let us see how the Google navigates the Animal Farm.
